The 5th GRADE ELEMENTARY, MIZZOU GLOBAL SCHOLARS (MIDDLE SCHOOL) and DUAL DIPLOMA PROGRAM (HIGH SCHOOL) programs are the right way to read the world, decode messages from different parts of it, and expand the possibilities of interaction and the limits of knowledge. This is an agreement with the University of Missouri, which is among the top 100 universities in the USA and a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), alongside institutions such as Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Princeton, and Yale.

5th GRADE ELEMENTARY

A course for 5th graders that allows them to learn the language in a unique way, exercising communication, creativity, critical thinking, and digital literacy. Students will be encouraged to reflect on their work through conversations and peer feedback.

5th Grade Elementary can be considered a pre-Middle School program, as students who complete it satisfactorily will be able to enter Middle School (Middle Direct) the following year.

Entry to the program is always at the beginning of the school year. The program is presented every year in the second semester (September) to the parents and guardians of students in the 4th grade. At the presentation, the next steps are explained, including how to apply and take part in the selection process which takes place in October/November. An announcement is sent out before the presentation so that families can book and take part.

MIZZOU GLOBAL SCHOLARS (MIDDLE SCHOOL)

An integrated and interdisciplinary curriculum produced by Mizzou Academy, linked to the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Missouri, is the backbone of the program, offered by Dante from the 6th grade onwards. The educational approach is based on projects that cover content in a multidisciplinary way, as well as learning grammatical content, both in practice and through lessons aimed at grammar points.

Classes have four 45-minute lessons in English per week, stimulating not only the development of language and the ability to argue in the language but also 21st-century skills and competencies such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.

These skills are put to the test in the transformation of each student into an agent of change in their community: the program proposes the study of global problems defined by the UN (such as human rights, refugees, climate change, and women’s rights, among others). Through the Glocal concept, which brings together the principles of global and local, these leaders of tomorrow will already be applying their solutions to the problems of their localities while they are still elementary school students.

The themes for each level are

6th grade — Community Leadership: identity, leadership, culture, and community

7th grade — Connectedness: voice, technology, interdependence, and global citizenship

8th grade — Human Rights: leadership, service, analysis, and critical thinking

In the Middle School, there is the possibility of entering in the 6th, 7th or 8th grade, through the selection processes. Admission to the program always takes place at the beginning of the school year. The program is presented every year in the second semester (August/September) to the parents and guardians of students in the 5th, 6th, and 7th grades. At the presentation, the next steps are explained, including how to apply and take part in the selection process which takes place in October. A notice is sent out before the presentation so that families can book and take part.

DUAL DIPLOMA PROGRAM (High School)

Continuing the international curriculum of MIZZOU GLOBAL SCHOLARS (MIDDLE SCHOOL), the DUAL DIPLOMA PROGRAM (HIGH SCHOOL) is offered from the 9th grade of Elementary School and continues until the 2nd grade of high school. Classes are all in English and with foreign or native-like teachers, and the number of students in class is reduced. Upon graduating from Dante High School (at the end of the 3rd grade), students also graduate from Mizzou Academy, with an American diploma recognized by US universities—whether they are based in the US or other continents.

More than an immersion in the language, the classes in the program experience its appropriation, practicing communication in public, as well as reading, analyzing, and writing texts in English. The subjects in the Brazilian curriculum are validated by the University of Missouri, so there is no need to redo them in English. Specific subjects such as economics, marketing, public speaking, career planning, and American history, among others, are added.

Entry to High School is via the HIGH SCHOOL DIRECT program for students who successfully complete MIDDLE SCHOOL. There is also the possibility of entering the 9th grade through a selection process. Entry to the program always takes place at the beginning of the 9th grade school year. The program is presented annually in June to the guardians of students in the 8th grade. At the presentation, the next steps are explained, including how to apply and take part in the selection process, which takes place in September. A notice is sent out before the presentation so that families can book and take part.
