The Liceo Scientifico at Colégio Dante Alighieri combines the Italian and Brazilian curricula. Combining the best of the tradition of humanistic culture with the most modern technical and scientific knowledge, the Liceo offers the linguistic and conceptual means necessary for the comprehensive development of the students’ life path.
The Liceo Scientifico, opzione Scienze Applicate, recognized by the Directorate of Education as an international course at Colégio Dante Alighieri and by MAECI (Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale— Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation), ordinance MAECI-MIM 4815/1907 of December 21st, 2022, offers a training course that integrates basic scientific culture with the practical application of the knowledge acquired. This course enables students to gain a solid scientific education and develop practical skills that can be used in a variety of work environments.
Recognized worldwide for its quality, the education of an Italian Liceo offers students the cultural and methodological tools for an in-depth understanding of reality through a rational, creative, project-based and critical approach to everyday situations, phenomena and problems, promoting the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and competences necessary both for further study and for integration into social life and the world of work, in a manner consistent with each person’s abilities and personal choices.
Focused on the link between the study of scientific knowledge and the humanist tradition, the Liceo Scientifico, opzione Scienze Applicate catalyzes the learning of the knowledge and methods of mathematics, physics, and natural sciences, through a solid historical and cultural background, offering a unique education, capable of clearly and deeply interlinking the relationships between scientific thought and philosophical reflection.
The Liceo also allows students to acquire the necessary knowledge to use computer and data analysis tools, as well as important elements of entrepreneurship, and at the same time encourages contact with the fundamental aspects of European culture and literary and artistic tradition, through reading the most significant works, authors and currents of thought in the West.
Seen as an integral part of the learning process, the Italian and English languages act, in the itinerary of the Liceo Scientifico, as vehicular languages in an international formative path, which accustoms students to reason logically and critically in many circumstances, learning to move with linguistic ease between the different spaces and contexts typical of an increasingly dynamic and globalized reality.
Basic subjects include mathematics, physics, and natural sciences. These subjects are essential to understanding how the natural world and new technologies work. However, the educational path is not limited to these subjects and also includes a series of practical subjects, such as computer science and robotics. In addition, the design and problem-solving approach is also proposed, putting students in real situations where they can apply the knowledge they have acquired. This approach allows them to develop critical, creative, and solution-oriented thinking, skills that are highly sought after in the world of work.

The Pathway for Transversal Skills and Orientation (PCTO), an integral part of the educational project in compliance with article 1, paragraph 785 of law no. 145 of December 30, 2018, paragraph 785 of law no. 145 of December 30th, 2018, provides for the acquisition of these skills that will enable students to develop appropriate strategies for achieving a life and career path in line with their own desires, abilities, and ambitions in a context such as the current one, characterized by the urgency of environmental problems and the increasingly rapid digitalization of the economy.
The Liceo lasts four years and is divided into a two-year period compressed into one year and a three-year period, at the end of which the state exam is taken to obtain the Maturità Scientifica diploma.
