Awareness of citizenship and improvement in the skills of reflection, connection between different subjects and areas of study, communication and expression are among the main things that students acquire during their time at Dante. They reach 6th grade with an organized study routine, so that they are able to use their creativity to solve real everyday problems—which could be the queue at the canteen at lunchtime or the imminent extinction of some fauna species in Trianon Park in front of the school, for instance.
AUTONOMY, WHICH HAS ALREADY BEEN EXERCISED IN PREVIOUS STAGES OF SCHOOL LIFE, TAKES ON GREATER PROMINENCE HERE: STUDENTS NOW HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE THEIR OWN PROJECTS TO PRESENT IN CLASS OR AT EVENTS SUCH AS SCIENCE FAIRS. THESE ARE INDIVIDUAL AND/OR COLLECTIVE CONSTRUCTIONS BASED ON COLLECTING, ANALYZING, AND INTERPRETING DATA, PROCESSES THAT THESE STUDENTS HAVE ALREADY MASTERED EVEN BEFORE THEY REACH THE 9TH GRADE. THE VARIETY OF LANGUAGES USED TO EXPRESS THIS KNOWLEDGE IS ENCOURAGED, THUS OPENING UP THE STUDENTS’ RANGE OF EXPERIMENTATION TO THE ARTISTIC, SCIENTIFIC, AND HUMANISTIC FIELDS IN GENERAL.
At this stage of school life, critical thinking and attention to detail are also encouraged, as well as the constant exercise of looking at the same thing from different perspectives. The focus is on refining perspectives, but always instigating the presentation of constructive proposals as a result.
The content is more in-depth, and topics related to consumption, production, and the management of environmental and technological resources are always on the agenda.
