Starting Elementary School is a milestone: the moment when reading and writing will open even more doors for the little ones, who will now have this form of expression, communication, and contact with the world around them. It is between the first and second year of elementary school that students become young readers and writers.
It is also at this stage of their school life that they begin to deal more actively with problematic situations, whether in everyday life or in the content presented in class. The children are now able to act effectively in solving problems, always with the support of our teaching team, who guarantee a safe and beneficial environment for each individual student and for the class as a whole. The little ones at Dante produce experiments and carry out investigations in order to substantiate their own hypotheses.
From this new place in which they find themselves, students gradually recognize themselves as agents of a world in constant transformation. This is how they take responsibility for their actions, discovering their potential, strengthening their self-esteem, and identifying limits, including in relation to their peers. Learning to take care of themselves, others and their relationships, as well as the shared space—and extending this concept to broader notions of citizenship and sustainability—is one of the goals of Elementary School I.
Through the exercise of argumentation and dialog, while also validating different opinions and eventually changing their minds, they experience living together in society. Throughout elementary school, this skill is already being stimulated, while respect for cultural, racial, political, and regional diversity is being established.
The process of gaining autonomy also takes place in relation to technological resources: a digital citizenship program begins in elementary school in which the focus is on the ethical, safe, and responsible use of the devices present in our students’ daily lives.
